Cinnamon Twists


For the Twists

1 Lb. pizza dough store bought

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the Glaze

1 tablespoon butter, at room temperature

1 tablespoon cream cheese, at room temperature

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

For the Twists

Preheat oven your to 375 then line a baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

On a floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a rectangle.

Spread two tablespoons of the soft butter onto the dough.

Sprinkle with brown sugar.

In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture over the brown sugar.

Reserve about 2 teaspoons for the top of the twists.

Fold dough in half, then cut into 12 equal strips.

Turn each strip into a twist, over, under and through.

Place each knot 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

Melt remaining tablespoon of butter.

Brush each tists with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.

Place the pan in the oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until knots are golden brown.

The cinnamon sugar mixture might get gooey in the oven and that is ok.

Remove pan from oven and let twists cool to room temperature.

While twists are cooling, make the cream cheese glaze.

For the Glaze

In a medium bowl, whisk together butter and cream cheese.

Whisk in powdered sugar and add milk and vanilla extract.

Whisk until the glaze is smooth.

Drizzle glaze over the cooled cinnamon roll twists. Enjoy!
